A safe and quiet residential area within walking distance of the Historic City Centre which boasts heritage sites (Durham Cathedral and Castle), fantastic bars and restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, sports and leisure facilities and some simply stunning riverside walks among its many attractions. Tesco Express is only 5min down the street as well as Claypath Deli cafe where you can get delicious home made cakes, bread or sourdough pizzas. You can also take advantage of the wonderful nature and riverside walks which are only 5 minutes away.

Situated only a 10 minute walk from the city centre of Durham, this 2BDR property is a 1930s semi which has been fully renovated in 2020 in an art deco style, preserving traditional English features and original stain glass windows, encased in new double glazing to keep the place warm. The house has a warm and cosy feel to it, with a light and spacious, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, from where you can also access a private patio. Then there is also a living room on the ground floor, featuring the original stained glass windows and a unique fireplace. On the first floor, you will find two good sized bedrooms (king size bed and two singles) with a bathroom. There is also a small study area on the landing. We provide all the linens, towels, and toiletries you need to make your stay comfortable and hassle-free. Parking There is a car space for one car in the driveway as well as plenty of street (metered) parking if extra parking is needed.

Diese Unterkunft in Durham ist wunderschön. Man ist schnell in der Innenstadt und hat eine Einfahrt, falls man ein Mietauto hat. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und Irena ist sehr organisiert. Es gab eine Anleitung für alles und man konnte sie schnell erreichen. Das Haus ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet, sehr ordentlich und hat einen typischen englischen Flair. Die Betten sind zudem sehr bequem! Besonders hat uns gefallen, dass es sogar Kaffee, Tee und kleine Snacks gab. Hier wird auf jedes Detail liebevoll geachtet. Ich würde diese Unterkunft jedes mal wiederbuchen und sie vom Herzen weiterempfehlen.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Mayoress! It’s very well located—just a short walk to Durham’s main attractions, yet situated on a lovely, quiet street. Everything you need is close by: shops, restaurants, a supermarket, and a bus stop. The house is clearly well cared for, and you’ll find everything needed for a cozy stay. Everything is well maintained and organized. Irena was very attentive and made us feel more than welcome. We will certainly keep this place in mind when returning to Durham. We loved it! We liked everything!

This property is conveniently located, only a short walk to Durham marketplace and other major Durham sights. The Train station as well as the Bus station are about a 15 minute walk with trains going to near by Newcastle or other areas such as York, London or Edinburgh and many others. It is also well placed for commuting purposes being within a few minutes drive of the A(690) Durham to Sunderland Highway which in turn offers access to the A1(M) Motorway Interchange and the A19. Easy access to and from the A1M motorway (10 minutes drive).
